Manhattan Titans end of season party

The Manhattan Titans 10U had their year end season party. We had a picnic, then finished off the night at the local pool. The kids had a great time. Thanks to all of the coaches for a great season and putting in their time and great spirit with this terrific group of boys!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane...........

Don't know when I'll be back again. My bags are packed and Scott's stuff is lined up and ready to go. Just need to borrow a bigger suitcase from Grandma. The countdown to Vegas is on.

Believe it or not, he asked to do this.............

For whatever reason, Grant has been dying to help with the dishes. Usually, it is just easier to do it myself, but tonight, he gave it a try. He did a great job, but I don't expect it to last.

"Dear Santa"

Steph let us take the jet ski out for a spin today. I had never driven one before, but have found a new love. Grant was a natural behind the wheel. Mitch loved to go fast!! I have started a new X-mas list.

Let the Good Times Roll

Having a great time at the lake with our neighbors. We got rained on for a while, but it didn't stop us.

Old Friends, New Memories

My good friend from College was in town the other night. She has 3 kiddos, so instead of us all staring at each with all of our kids at my house, we headed up to MCC so that the kids could swim and we could catch up. Thanks for calling Kelli........it was great to see you. She has 2 boys (8) that are twins, and her sweet little girl is 4.

10 Things you may or may not know about me

Here it is, I finally came up with something.
1. I attended Luckey High School (Catholic School) in Manhattan until it closed my Freshman year. We were then all shipped up the MHS. We called ourselves "transplants."
2. While at Luckey, I did every sport they offered, as it was a very small school. This also included Cross Country. Hated it then, still hate to run. I would then go up to K-State where they offered gymnastics. I use to perform at basketball games at half time.
3. I was a gymnast for MHS. I did the all-around, meaning all 4 events. I could barely even swing on the bars when I was a sophomore, but by my Senior year, I placed 1st at Regionals and 3rd at State on the bars! I also ran track for MHS. I used to pal around with Thomas Randolph at Track practice. Remember him? He actually went on to play professional Football for someone.
4. Played flag football for my sorotity in college. I was just a little competitive! I was the "rusher." I often received penalities for "unnecessary roughness." Come on.........it WAS Football. In the last game one year, I fell on the ground so hard that it split my fingers apart. Had to have stitches in between my first and middle fingers. The doctors had never seen anything like it.
5. While at K-State, I was all ready to try out for the ski team, but over the weekend before, I had broken my toe playing basketball in dress shoes. Come to find out today, Shelly W. was on the ski team. What a small world.
6. My first job out of college was an Assistant Manager for Target. Oh, to have a key to a Target store at the age of 25. I trained in the Topeka store, then went on to live in Salina and help to open that store. I still love that place!
7. Scott and I lived in Abilene, KS for 7 years. We moved there after we got married. He then drove to Manhattan to work, and I drove to Salina to work. Both kids were born there. Did I mention that when I took Scott to my parents house when we first met, my mom made him watch my old gymnastics videos. This is no joke!
8. I DID meet my husband in a bar. Paddy O'Quiglys in KC. His roommate at the time was someone that I had gone to grade school and H.S. with. Go figure that I met him at an Irish bar. Scott's Great Grandfather was from Cork, Ireland. There's everyone's answer about Mitch's red hair. Scott's family is full of McMahon's, etc.
9. I have had the same Best Friend for over 30+ years now. We were in opposite Kindergarten classes, but went through all of grade school and high school together. She NEVER liked any of my boyfriends until I met Scott. She was worse than my older brother about that stuff. Our husbands still don't understand how we can talk so many hours a day about nothing.
10. I am the first to admit that I am still my "Daddy's Little Girl." I don't have a honey-do list, I have a "daddy-do" list, and he always pulls through.

My 1984 Hero

While I can in no way even begin to list 10 things at one time, I should be able to piece some facts about me together as I think of them. Mary Lou Retton, my idol, my hero.........back in the day. The first American woman to win the GOLD. Oh, did I want to be just like her, hair and all. When I went to Bela Karolyi's camp in H.S., I so hoped I would get to meet her. Only got a photo of her from a distance. I did get a picture of me by her car. Remember her red corvette with the personalized tag "Mary Lou"? This is my favorite time of year, the summer Olympics. I will soon be glued to the TV once the gymnastics starts.

The 3 Stooges

Grant and Mitch's cousin Jordan is in town visiting. Why is it so hard to get a good picture of multiple children? However, it seems that Grant is the main Stoog! Thanks for coming to see us Jordan!

No More Babies in the House

My little RedHead turns 7 on Thursday, July 24th. He is such a funny kid and just a comedian without even knowing it. Here is an EARLY Birthday present for him. The day that he was a STUD and his older brother was the NERD. He has been living in his brother's footsteps and sitting through all of Grant's games over the years. He is finally becoming a little athlete of his own. Happy early birthday..............your brother is not going to be very happy with me!!

Football tryouts for the Big One and the Small One

Grant and Mitch both had Football tryouts this evening. Scott is coaching Grant, the 5th grade team, and Mitch (our 1st grader) is going to play up with the 3rd graders this year (tackle). He was told tonight that he made the team. Watch out Grant, after all those years of picking on him, he is right on your tail!!

Brown Door, Brown Door, What do You see?

I see a White Door looking at me.

In the middle............

After 30+++ years

You would think that I would have learned. But no, for some odd reason, today I thought would be different, and I thought that I was actually going to get a tan. With nobody but Mitch and myself to view, I thought, "hey, I am going to get the back of my legs." You know, the place that hasn't seen sun for close to 20 years. I floated on an upside down tube for about an hour. Oh, sooo relaxing. Oh, will I be paying for days. Can't even hardly sit down now. DUH!!!!

Just not gonna happen.....

I tried and tried to get a decent picture of Mitch and I together since it was our "date weekend" This is about all I ended up with. I better not quit my day job...........Jen, please help!

Breakfast of Champions

When I said cheap and easy, I wasn't kidding. This is what Mitched asked to have for breakfast. Is that bad? Isn't Sunkist kinda like orange juice? And ramen must be similar to oatmeal.

Date Weekend (With my 6 year old)

Mitch and I headed to the lake this weekend.........just the 2 of us. I can't even tell you how easy it was. No cooking, no making beds (we both fell asleep on the couch) and just good old cheap entertainment.

The Money Pit (BEFORE)

The projects have been never ending at the lake cabin bought last summer. Grant finally asked if we were ever going to "not work" when we come down here. Soon, very soon!! Right?

Due to a storm, had to replace windows and siding on the back of house.........so why not change it all. We never did like the original siding. So, here is the progress. How about those half moon shutters up top. The lady that lived there years ago made sure my mom knew that she pick those out. Those obviously won't be going back up after the old comes down.

Top of the morning to you!!

I just couldn't resist these photos. Since Jen organized them for me on my computer, this is the first time I have see these pictures NOT on my camera!! As if I needed to explain, we have a little Irishman.

Can't forget about Big Brother

After all, he is the one that started playing this game first. Grant played for the Titan's this year, a 10 & under traveling team. Turned out to be a lot of fun........lots of weekends and travel, but I really enjoyed watching him play.

BLING, BLING

A girl's gotta have her bling!! When it's no fun to buy pants, this is what it is all about. Viva Las Vegas! These 2 items are the reason why I love Target and TJ Maxx......both items together, under $30.
