Where Have I Been?

Wow, have I been out of the loop, or what? I pride myself on keeping up to date on what is going on at Target. In fact, I always tell Grant that when he was 2 years old, he and I would have "date" day at Target on Saturdays, while his Dad was off golfing. He got the kids meal, and I, my DIET COKE. I am now a DIET PEPSI fan, and have been for some time now, so I really don't get a soda at Target much anymore, as they were a DIET COKE vendor. Well what do you know, head to Target today with the kids, went ahead and got myself a drink thinking it was going to be Diet Coke, and to my absolute surprise..................DIET PEPSI. They now offer both. It made my day!!!

It's a good thing

that I helped the boys catch these little critters over the weekend.
I didn't even make a peep when I moved the lawn mower in the garage and found this little fella there.

1 out of 2 isn't all that bad

Well, it's now proven. I do not have a green thumb. Just planted these 2 little trees in May, and I have already lost 1 of them. I was just wondering, does anyone else decorate their landscape with all the sports material? When do you suppose my kids will start cleaning up after themselves. I think they hide their toys in this back area just to avoid putting them away!

Manhattan Catbackers

Suzie Fritz, the K-State Volleyball Coach, was the speaker at the Catbackers dinner tonight.
(See Kristin, Bernie really was working tonight!) She did a great job.
Tim Fitzgerald, with Powercat Illustrated, finished up the evening after dinner.
As you can tell, Scott and I were some of the "youngest" people present. Thanks to Becky F. and Ben H. for sitting with us.

The Band is HOT, not a Little but A LOT

So, now that Grant is in the 5th grade, band is a requirement. Didn't have a clue how much these things cost. He better turn into a famous jazz player after forking over the $$$ for his saxophone. And, we bought used! You can probably already guess what instrument Mitch will be playing.

So close to a new stove at the cabin

Went to put bacon in the oven, and nothing happened. I had just used it the night before. Deep down, I think I was hoping that it had shot craps. However, with the amount of $$$ already spent down there this summer, it is a good thing Harlan was around. Stay tuned for pictures of the kitchen!! Oh, and for those bacon lovers out there, but don't like the mess and smell all day, try cooking your bacon in the oven at 350 on the broiler pan. The grease drips through to the bottom, and yummy, crispy bacon.

Look what the cat drug in

We had some visitors down at the lake on Sunday. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for hanging out with us for the day.

Finally, tubing Mitch's style

After Mitch's "brush with death" (just a figure of speach) last year on the tube, he is a little gun shy about trying it again. He wiped out big time, and luckily, our friend Mark W., jumped in after him. The waves were so strong, they could barely make it back to the boat. He has decided that his brother pulling him behind the paddle boat was a little better for him.

He makes it look so easy.

Just like that, he pops right up. I have yet to try the wake board. Not real thrilled with the idea of having both feet trapped in those boot thing-a-ma-jigs.

Happy Anniversary!

12 years as of today, married to my wonderful hubby.

Now that IS short

So, at girls weekend, some of us were talking about short hair, and I was saying how short I used to wear it. It was even this short when I met my hubby!! Now, I can't remember if this picture of me in my Target attire was the "employee of the month" or the "shopper of the month." (ha,ha) I have given up on the scanner. My dad has tried every different thing, and still not coming through. You'll have to just keep clicking on the photo if you want to see it bigger.

Who's in charge here

The kids insisted on taking the canoe out over the weekend. We so thought they were going to tip it over. They did a good job!

For All of You "Texters" out there

Now I can respond so much faster. Finally upgraded my phone to one that will make it so much easier and faster to text. I love my new phone. I find myself fighting for it with my 10 year old son. He knew how to use it without reading the instructions. I, on the other hand, needed a little help to send my 1st text.

Melon and Balloons. Scott had a little fun planned for Grant's Football team after practice tonight.
The team opened fire on him............
Getting no help from the other coaches!! (hee, hee)

Looks Like It's Official

No turning back now. Mitch, my little 1st grader, was in full pads at practice tonight. He's in the blue jersey. I guess there will be no flag pulling in this house. Straight to tackle. I sure hope I don't have to tackle some 3rd grader during a game!!

Did You See That??

Please sign this waiver..............miss Shelly missed a couple of steps on her way to deliver some sandwiches to the kids. Good news, she didn't spill a single thing!! How's the hip feeling, Shelly?

Grant Squared

We enjoyed the William's family at the lake on Sunday. After Girls weekend, the weather turned out so nice, we couldn't face going home, so we called our hubbies and they brought down all the kiddos.

A Little Girl Time

We had a great time with just the girls this weekend on the lake. Had to get a photo of the 3 little ducklings. Not sure what is going on with the one with the lump on the back of it's head. Saw all 3 of them hanging out again together today.

I think He was right

Back when we swapped out our countertops, I brought samples home for Scott to look at. The only response I got from him was, "It looks like a chocolate chip cookie." I hate to admit it, but he does have a point.

Anyway, wonderful recipe to share that I got from a friend.

1 box yellow cake mix, super moist
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 T water
Bag of Choc. chips

Mix all together, spread in 9x13 pan, bake at 350 for 23-30 minutes.

Friday Evening Fun

Possibly our last visit to the pool for the summer. Soon all of our weekends will be consumed with Football. Had to get the kids out in time to make it home to watch Michael Phelps. What a win!

Happy Birthday TANNER!

Talk about cutting it close. It's almost over here in an hour or so, but, it's the thought that counts, right?
Happy Birthday to Grant's great friend Tanner, and my 3rd Son!! Hope it was a good one. Nothing like having to start school on your Birthday.

Move Over Mary Lou

Shawn Johnson or Sharyl Munsen. If you can't tell, why should I?! Crocker, the picture below is for you. Just to prove I was a gymnast! Sorry the photo is so small, still can't figure out the scanning.

Don't Try This At Home.........

Again, the kids and I glued to the TV. Tonight, men's gymnastics. The high bar continues to amaze me!! Anyway, the boys think that it all looks so "easy". So, we started to do headstands. Little did they know that their mama could out do them. They couldn't believe that I could stand on my head so long. They finally got it somewhat, but I had to start taking the picture before they even attempted, in hopes that I would get a shot of them on their head!! Actually, I challenge all of you to try this at home. And you must share your results!! I can't get my husband in here to give it a shot.
